It does not have a back up key. If the batteries die, you just have to pull the face plate off and put some new batteries in it.
It seems like this would be better if there was a drawer that slid out. With it being so long you’d never get to anything in the back of it, which makes it seem like it would have wasted space in back.

I bought a Black Box Safe about a year ago and am really glad about the purchase. I’ve always keep guns under my bed, but when my son turned 2 my wife got on me to do something about the guns. The thick steel and higher end lock is what sold me. It is a quality safe.
Does the safe have a backup key to open the lock just in case the power source for the lock fails?
